​​​​​​​Established in 2003, Play It Strange exists to provide pathways of creativity through not only songwriting but also the recording, performance and celebration of those songs. They have a number of programmes and competitions in place to achieve these goals. 

Concerts, workshops and competitions have been held in that time, all with the intentions to provide the right environment from which students can gain confidence, self-belief and an impetus for a career path they would like to follow. 

There are songwriting competitions from where those judged as finalists get to record their songs in professional studios to be released on a digital album, as well as other song-based programmes and informative avenues.

Birkenhead College students have a long and proud history of achieving highly in Play it Strange events and competitions.
